As soon as Rice University opened its doors in October 1912, students began planning for a student-led newspaper. The project was realized in 1916. Now 96 years old, the Rice Thresher has been informing the university community weekly with a print edition. Like most media, the Thresher has also gone online. The print edition is available on campus each Friday during the school year and online at www.ricethresher.org.
