Okay, let’s cut to the chase. You want to know why dating is hard today?

It’s partly due to the fact that people have lower attention spans.

This is probably due to things like social media or the internet affecting people’s ability to focus and go through the process of getting to know someone.

People tend to give up quickly and go for people who seem perfect.

The problem?

No one is perfect.

And it creates and environment where people just come and go with little to no sense of loyalty to one another.

That’s the bad news.

The good news is that there are still people who want to get to know you and who will take the time to date you.

You just have to find them.

Dating is and always has been a numbers game.

It’s just that you have to sift through more smartphone zombies in order to find someone who has the attention span to have a meaningful conversation with you.

Just like with everything else that I teach about dating and relationships, it’s a matter of where you go to meet people.

Where you meet someone is very important.

If you meet someone in a context where they have to have a strong attention span (such as a book club or writers group) you have a much higher probability of meeting someone who has the patience to date you and get to know you better.

So, yes, dating is hard today.

But it doesn’t mean that you’re going to be stuck in limbo, getting rejected, over and over again because you’re not a perfect 10. And it doesn’t mean that you’ll be cast aside as nothing more than a booty call or an friend with benefits.

You just have to be smart in how you’re dating.

Think about what you’re looking for in a partner, and think about where you’re likely to find that sort of person.

You must be picky.

Yes, dating poses more challenges today. But it’s nothing that can’t be overcome.

People will always date. And as long as people are dating, there will be ways to date successfully and find someone who actually wants the same things that you want in a relationship. You just have to adapt to the times and use whatever you need to to make it happen.
