Chief minister O Ibobi yesterday launched the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. State Bank Of India, Regional Office organised the launching of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna at Hotel Classic yesterday afternoon. Launching the scheme Chief Minister Okram Ibobi lauded the scheme but added that it would be difficult to make the scheme a success without providing banking system in every block.

Referring to the inconveniences that the state would face in making the scheme a success, he said that 27 Blocks of the state are still without banking service and it is impossible to implement such scheme in these blocks. He also said that even though the govt has assured to give every support, nationalised banks have not taken any step to open banks at the non-banking blocks. He cited this is as the biggest challenge in bringing about a financial inclusion. He also appealed to all concerned to extend all possible help to the govt to make the scheme a success.

Speaking at the function, Chief Secretary, P C Lawmkunga said the state is unable to give facilities of financial inclusion to the public. He also said the national scheme will bring about a change in the far flung areas of the state by providing facilities under the scheme.
