After successful completion of the third phase of Mission Myanmar, the team lead by Dr Palin and Dr Jugindro of Shija Hospital and Research Institute returned to Imphal last week. The mission was taken up under the initiative of Shija Hospital and Research Institute with a view to promote Manipur as a destination for medical tourism and boost better and friendly relationship between Myanmar and India especially Manipur. It may be recalled that the team of Mission Myanmar third phase was flagged off by Governor Vinod Kumar Duggal on the 17th of this month from Raj Bhavan. The staff of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute gave a reception on their arrival. Managing Director Dr Kh Palin and Dr Jugindro spoke in length about the experiences of the mission in Myanmar. Dr Palin observed that mission Myanmar, which commenced from last year culminated with the successful completion of the third phase. Chief Minister Sagaing province, Union Health Minister of Myanmar and Consulate General of India in Myanmar also personally came and witnessed the Smile and Cleft project in Myanmar. He further maintained that they lauded and encouraged the Mission for rendering yeoman service. In all, 59 operations including key holes and cleft surgery were successfully conducted. Dr Palin also asserted that it is a proud moment not only for Shija Hospital and Research Institute but also for the people of Manipur for giving approval by Consulate General of India in Myanmar to train three months doctors and surgeons by Shija. Dr Palin also informed that many South East Asean nations envy Manipur as the state passes through ASEAN Highway number one and connects with the rest of the South East Asean nations. Due to its strategic location other states of India also feel envious of Manipur. Manipur now has a lot of potential for growth and trade and business.
