Woman faces 66 counts in stolen identity scheme

EVENDALE, Ohio (WKRC) -- A California woman faces 66 criminal counts in an alleged identity theft and money laundering case with dozens of victims. The Hamilton County prosecutor's office says Allison Spadafore, 30, tried to buy Pay-Pal gift cards with a fake debit card at the Evendale Walgreens. The clerk noticed some discrepancies and alerted the manager. Spadafore ran from the store but Walgreens employees got her license plate number and called police. Blue Ash Police caught up with her at a Walgreens there. Evendale Police say they found information stolen from about 40 different people. She allegedly used that information to get fake ID cards, open bank accounts and buy merchandise and gift cards from various stores. Police say she was buying items and returning them for cash. Police are trying to determine the total loss but they estimate it to be more than 0,000. Investigators believe Spadafore was part of a network that has ties to an inmate at a California prison. Spodafore faces charges including identity fraud, money, laundering and misuse of a credit card. If she's convicted on all charges, she could face more than 30 years in prison.
