We Happy Few is a first-person indie survival horror game developed and published by Compulsion Games. It takes place in the 1960's in a fictional dystopian society in England. In order to deal with the horrible and depressing society, citizens take "Joy" which is a hallucinogenic pill that forces them to feel happy and see the world in a more pleasant fashion. Joy takes away their unhappy memories and, unfortunately, makes people complacent and ignorant. There are three main player characters, each of which having decided to stop taking Joy and become a downer. As soon as they are labeled as such, they are chased through the city by the police (known as "Bobbies"). Each must try to find an escape from the city before everything collapses. The player must avoid being caught while completing quests in typical RPG fashion. The player can craft useful items such as a lockpick in order to open containers which may contain valuable items. Players will also experience hunger, thirst, sickness, and exhaustion. If the player is starving or thirsting for too long, they will die.
