Plumbing problems force water into local apartments

NORTH FAIRMOUNT, Ohio (Angela Ingram) -- Neighbors in a local apartment complex have water backing up into their homes and maintenance crews are working to help them long term.  Local 12 News received calls from people who live in Valley View apartments in North Fairmount.  Neighbors said their toilets and bathtubs slowly started filling with water Friday morning, March 20, around 11 a.m.  Most of the people affected live on the first floor in one area of the complex, but one tenant said it had happened in her unit which is on the third floor.                Neighbors said it happened in the past and sewage came into their homes. Maintenance crews were on-site repairing and trying to fix the problem. The property manager also called a licensed plumber to find a long-term solution.  Tenants, especially those with families, hope they won't have any more water backing up into their homes. The property manager also said he was going door to door to see which tenants were affected.  He said he was taking them to a hotel to stay while workers fixed the problem.Management said the Cincinnati Health Department and officials at Housing and Urban Development have been notified to keep them in the loop about the problem.
