Details of Tropical Cyclone Owen at 4:00 am AEST:
Intensity: category 1, sustained winds near the centre of 85 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 120 kilometres per hour. 
Location: within 110 kilometres of 16.0 degrees South, 156.2 degrees East , 670 kilometres east of Willis Island and 1120 kilometres east of Cairns . 
Movement: east southeast at 8 kilometres per hour .

Hazards:
Tropical cyclone Owen has tracked slowly east-southeast for the past 12 hours. It has shown little development overnight, and is now unlikely to intensify further as atmospheric conditions become increasingly unfavourable.

Tropical cyclone Owen is expected to turn westward and begin to weaken today. It should weaken below tropical cyclone intensity tonight or on Wednesday morning.

The remnants of tropical cyclone Owen may move west towards the east tropical and/or central Queensland coasts later this week. This could result in heavy rainfall developing about the central and east tropical coasts late in the week, though there remains a large amount of uncertainty associated with the movement of the system.
