David discusses how to move your strategic planning on from the process he shared in the first clip of this playlist, which involved creating some basic categories that could characterise your life, your business or whatever else you might be training the strategic lens on.

This ‘environmental scanning’ of your current circumstances allows you to begin thinking in a systematic, planned way about the different areas and challenges you face. The second part of this process is to then make some projections, objectives and goals for each of these categories.

This is not looking at how to achieve those goals - just listing out where you would like to get through in each of those categories. A goal is basically an achievable, measurable task; an objective a direction you want to move in.

Use ‘blue sky’ thinking - be creative. If you make sub-categories, create objectives for them too. You can do this as a joint venture with others, or as part of a sole process. Remember - what and why, not how.
