The entire Parthenon Towers apartment building in West Nashville remains empty after a small fire damaged the electrical system.324 people won't be able to move back in for days.           Many residents are now in a Red Cross shelter, as generators are being moved in to fix the problems.It is a 15 story building with more than 300 residents, but now Parthenon Towers is useless."I wish I could still be living up here where I was you know," says resident Darryl Crutcher.Apartments were evacuated in the middle of the night.     Fire marshals decided the electrical system was badly damaged.  The building's fire alarms were inoperable."Our goal right now is to get power restored to the building, and make it habitable," says Mark Drury with MDHA.         Parthenon Towers is public housing, managed by the Metro Development and Housing Agency. Many of its residents are elderly and disabled.        About 150 people are staying in a temporary shelter at Lipscomb University.   One of the challenges at the shelter are all the medical needs. There are nurses on site just in case there are any problems. Trouble in the towers began earlier this month.       A small fire set off the sprinkler system, and water seeped into electric panels.    Since then, there have been two additional electrical failures."There are three fires in two weeks, this is just too much for anyone to take," says resident Reginald Lyons.It will be at least Thursday before some residents are allowed to return.    The city has hired a contractor to provide back up power generators. 14 of them will be used to run electricity into the Towers."We know that they want to get back in their homes, and we're trying to do that as quickly as possible, but we want to do it in as safe a manner as we can," says Drury.While many residents are frustrated, Juanita Beauregard stays positive."God is awesome, and he won't put any more on us than we can deal with, so we deal with this, we can do this," says resident Juanita Beauregard.Parthenon Towers is evacuated right now, but it's still home for hundreds of people.MDHA hopes all 324 residents will be able to move back in by Sunday.       Many of them will be have be re-united with their pets, which are being housed at the Nashville Humane Society.        While the generators will provide a temporary solution, new wiring will have to be installed for the future.
