Chinese Offer Prayers At Johor Palace’s Gates

Over 2,000 people in the Chinese community prayed at the iconic crown arch at Istana Bukit Serene, Johor Bahru this morning, for peace and prosperity at the start of spring in the Chinese calendar. A post on Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's official Facebook page showed photos of the believers standing barefooted on the grass patch surrounding the crown arch to meditate and offer prayers. His Majesty, who was alerted about the gathering, personally came down from the palace, to chat with the group and ascertain their activities. The Ruler, who has always advocated religious tolerance and harmony under the Bangsa Johor concept, permitted them to proceed with their meditations. He also graciously entertained requests for selfies with the visitors.
