The Ministry of Works and Transport has partnered with the International Maritime Organization, as the IMO offers its Caribbean Ship Inspection Training workshop. Speaking at the official launch at the Ministry's Head Office in Port-of-Spain, Works Minister Rohan Sinanan said the initiative is an important one, as shipping is the "key driver of economic activity" in the region. He added, as a result, ship safety and security, as well as pollution prevention, must be a top priority. He said the training will equip participants with the skill needed for the region to attain international shipping standards.
