ZFS has this feature and it can be turned on at the pool or data-set level. This can help save space on your system by comparing data blocks that are being written to what is already stored. If the block is already strored it does not need to written again. this can help with Mail servers and attachments sent to many users or data stores that hold virtual machines, zones or ISOs. They all represent files that often many identical blocks so would benefit.
