Kenya plans to increase funding in research and development to three percent of the Gross Domestic Product in five years. The National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation-NACOSTI Director General Moses Rugutt says inadequate funding continues to hinder production of cutting edge research in various fields in the country. Currently Kenya’s funding to research and development stands at less than 1 percent of GDP.
