Now retired long-nose SD9M Portland & Western 1853 (built as an SD7 numbered SP 5288 and later SP 1532) runs light through the former Knife River Cement private railroad crossing in Hillsboro, Oregon. The crossing arms here stay up longer and lower slowly to provide extra warning to the trucks that used to use this crossing. #1853 was involved in a collision in Sheridan, Oregon, bending its frame and throwing the main generator out of alignment and despite the best efforts of the shops, it doomed the unit. As of October, 2009, the unit has been parted out to keep older GP9s running. This video was shot on May 11, 2008.
