The basis for the name Thunor has it's roots in Indo-European polytheism. According to Vedic lore, Indra captures the moon and drags him down under the earth to squeeze the nectar of life. This is seen in our English word "Dew" which is moisture that rises from the earth and condenses on plants. This was understood by our ancestors as the nectar of life that had been captured by the Thunder god IN-DU-RA or THU-NAR. The name of the Indo-European Thunder god was most known for his power over the nectar of Life that was contained in the moon.
