Double Crane Corporation introduced a character product called "Island Chain Gang" at the Tokyo Contents Market 2008 exhibition.

"Island Chain Gang" is a character based story that features a gang family of 47 characters that represent Japan's 47 prefectural governments. The story is based on a map format of Japan's prefectures and the characters in the powerful gang are designed with unique faces. The features including dialects and specialty products of each prefectural area are introduced through the gang members. 

Double Crane took an idea based on firsthand information that capitalizes on features of the prefectural citizens, put the idea into form, and expanded the range of the gang characters. The company is also now discovering other possibilities such as printed publications and WEB and television based applications.
Island Chain Gang was recognized for its unique concept origin and design sense and was awarded the "Judge's Special Award" during the 2008 TCM Awards ceremony.
