Sung by Miss Eve Livett, this was songwriter Aaron Wilde's entry into the "Devil may Care" theme competition. The winner was used as the theme for the audio book. The inclusion of the voice clips was a requirement of the competition. A previously written song was adapted, but there was not time to change the key. However, I really like the range that Eve manages to push her voice to, giving the song a sense of held back urgency and then the release of energy as the melody rises higher than I had originally intended, Eve brought new parts to the melody that were better than what I had written, making this a collaborative work between writer and singer. Song lyrics and music by Aaron Wilde As you hit the ground There isn't a sound Cos you're out of sight You're outta sight tonight And will you be there? Devil may care! Cut loose from the past It all happened so fast I asked where I am Saw the gun in my hand And no one can find What's inside your mind How many have tried? How many have died? And will you be there? Devil may care! Our time overruns And everything comes To those who don't wait It all comes anyway And will you be there? Devil may care!
