It was January 2007. GOUTAM ROY's friend forced him to come for a picnic with him to Diamond Harbour. GOUTAM reluctantly agreed. They got onto the ferry and were about mid-way into the trip when his friend fell off the boat and was swallowed by the water. They searched in vain for him but could not find him. No one saw the incident happen so no one was sure whether he had fallen in or was pushed in. GOUTAM was questioned by the police. Behind his back, people questioned him, doubted whether he did it. He didn't even have time to cry for his friend's death. He knew unless the body was found and an autopsy was done, he would have no respite and that was highly unlikely. In those days, his sister-in-law, a Christian, ministered to him encouraged him to pray to Jesus about the situation and that's what he did. Suddenly, a breakthrough happened. After 8 days, the police found his friend's body in the harbour. An autopsy found that he had suffered a heart attack and fell in. GOUTAM's name was cleared and his faith in Jesus increased and he agreed to go to church with his sister-in-law. There he felt an incredible peace. A Bengali song about the crucifixion touched his heart immensely and convicted him. In August of that year, he took baptism. Today, he works as an art tuition teacher.
