Mason teachers move closer to striking

MASON, Ohio (Larry Davis) -- Teachers in one of the tri-state's largest school districts move closer toward a strike.    Union members took a vote of no confidence in Mason's Superintendent.  The union gave its leadership the authority to issue a ten day strike notice.  Teachers say they are troubled by the direction Superintendent Dr. Gail Kist-Kline is taking the district.  They cite cuts in classroom support, eliminating educational facilities and academic programs.   The School Board has responded by issues its full support of Dr. Kist-Kline and says they have confidence in her leadership.  In a letter from the board it says the district has improved academically and reduced cost.The talk of a teacher strike though has caught the attention of many parents.  Mason parent, Jennifer Deross, said, "It is a little concerning that there is talk of a strike.  Umm, Mason is known to have such excellent education.  I don't think, I'm not worried of a strike in the fall I think they'll reach a resolution before then."Mason teachers are at the end of a two-year contract which included a pay freeze.
