After delivery, children born with a heart defect are cared for in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), a state-of-the-art facility staffed by intensive care doctors, cardiologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses -- all specially trained to care for babies with heart defects.
