LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- A teenager accused of setting a fire to kill his parents could be tried as adult. A judge will make that determination for Mitchell Simon later this month. The 16-year-old junior honor student at Lakota West appeared in court Tuesday on charges of attempted murder and arson. The prosecutor says Simon tied the doors to his parents' separate bedrooms closed, then set two fires in the hallway of their Liberty Township home October 23rd. Firefighters rescued the teen's mom from her bedroom, while his father jumped from a window. Simon's attorney requested a competency hearing and a change of venue in the case. The judge granted supervised visitation between the teen and his parents.
