In an effort to preserve the status quo, Elk Grove's city council rejected calls for election reform that would change the way councilmembers are elected.
At a council meeting Wednesday, the city’s four council members all expressed support for the current system. Mayor Steve Ly said he hoped to call a vote to place the issue on the November ballot for residents to decide. However, Ly said given that he didn't have support from the rest of the council, he saw no point to ask for a vote.
