Why did God choose David to become king of Israel? Pastor Doug Batchelor explores the anointing of David and the meaning of God’s words, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Although David was the youngest and least expected of Jesse’s sons, God saw the faith, courage, humility, and devotion that would prepare him to lead Israel. Discover what it means to be a person after God’s own heart and why character matters more than appearance, position, age, or human approval. Learn how David’s years as a faithful shepherd prepared him for greater responsibilities, how the Holy Spirit transformed his life, and why God often chooses overlooked people to accomplish extraordinary things. This message reveals practical lessons about spiritual leadership, faithfulness in small responsibilities, developing a Christlike character, and allowing God to prepare you for His purpose.
