Fifteen people have been arrested over attempts to smuggle foreign materials into two examination centres in Nyanza and Western. This is happening on the first day of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education theory examinations and as was the case during KCPE, a number of candidates gave birth and others are heavily pregnant as they write their exams. Education cabinet secretary, Amina Mohamed, says a teacher in Wajir has been arrested in connection with the pregnancy of a teenager.
