I love my vocals in this. It was recorded on the Fostex X-15 II (cassette based 4-track recorder). This early song of mine has been salvaged from the original master tape. It shows what you can do with very limited means. The vocal echo was done using two tape recorders and panning by hand through the whole song! Vocals were recorded on a $10 Radio Shack microphone! All the music was produced on the Yamaha PSS-680, and all the sequences and drum patterns were written by me from scratch. The images are just random cycling images of me. This song, and others like it that I have written, are directly influenced by Baroque music and Jean-Michel Jarre, who also comes from that tradition and writes pure electronic music, using many of the traditional baroque themes, which have also become a deeply ingrained part of French traditional music, and lately, part of the huge modern dance music tradition. I think this is the song that began a lifelong love-affair with 147 Beats Per Minute, which I believe to be a mysterious magical tempo that makes you have to dance. I've used this tempo for many songs since.
