Just after 3 p.m Monday a call came into to 911 dispatchers in reference to a white male with a beard, hat, and a camouflage  jacket with a red reflector on it walking on SH242 near the railroad tracks with a long rifle.

Within minutes one of the deputies arrived and spotted the suspect walking down the railroad tracks which is private property. The deputy flanked the suspect as he continued south. 

Moments later as other units arrived on the scene shots were fired an the male ran into the woods. The deputy who had been in the woods spotted him crouched behind a tree with a long gun and ordered him out. The suspect refused and then fled into the woods. 

As K-9 units were responding a perimeter was set up around the area. In addition a call was put out for units with long guns to respond.

After almost an hour deputies were unable to locate the suspect in the dense woods and backed out. After most units left the area the suspect eventually walked out and was detained for questioning. 

The suspect, Charlie Shelton Girsh Jr. who lives nearby on Great Oaks has been arrested and placed in the Montgomery County Jail on charges of evading arrest.and criminal trespass. 

Departments assisting were Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, DPS, Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constables Office, Oak Ridge Police, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Shenandoah Police Department.
