Uchumi banks on sale of land in Kasarani to generate revenue

Uchumi Supermarkets is banking on the proceeds of a land sale in order to offset some of its debts, as the retailer fights to stay in business. The supermarket says even though the sale will not generate enough money to fully cover the debts, it will keep debtors off its back for a while, as it seeks to implement a new system in which suppliers will receive timely payment for their goods.
