There is a long  tea history of Pu'er tea . Pu'er tea is one of the oldest type of tea in China which spans  over 1700 years since  the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220 AD).


The region of Xishuanbanna is in the deep south of Yunnan Province, next to the Myanmar and Loation borders. The name Xishuanbanna is Chinese appro-ximation of the origional Thai name, Sip Sawng Panan (12 rice- growing districts). Since 1995 Mengla where is on the Loation border has opened to foreigners.

The East: Ganlanba, Menglun Tropical Gardens, Jinuo Villages and Mengyang. Further to South, we can reach the Loation border Mengla County.

The South: Mangfeilong Pagoda; Black Pagoda; and there is a beautiful lake by the highway, hundreds of birds are flying over when the mist clearing in the morning.
 
 The West: Menghai; Menghun; the Octagonal Pavilion of Jingzhen.

The North: Wild Elephant Valley and the Trees Hotel.


Around Menghai there are many tea growing areas, notably puertea is grown here. Also Ooolong tea is cultivated. Some of the tea trees are over 1000 years of age.
