Hi and welcome to another Reloved Guitar workshop video showing the full set up of this black and white Squier 'Affinty' Telecaster. Now before we go any further, please note this is NOT meant to be watched for entertainment :-) These videos are to show prospective buyers the work that goes into turning these guitars into quality playable instruments. They are also a 'how to' guide for anyone interested in doing this work on their own guitars in future.

Reloved Guitars is a stepdad-stepson outfit based near Tavistock in Devon. I've been playing guitar (badly) for years but never learned anything about how to set one up until last winter when I bought a DIY electric guitar kit. This got me to learning some of the basics of setting up a guitar. Then, an infuriating problem with a £300 Taylor Baby acoustic that sounded awful whatever I did to it pushed me to learn the Secret Power of The Nut... From there I worked out a simple recipe for turning ANY unloved, unplayable dog of a budget guitar into a fantastic instrument you'd want to keep. So far, so good: the recipe has worked on every guitar that's come into our little workshop.

On this guitar, you'll see us doing overall checks, taking the neck off and giving it a full overhaul including the all-important fret levelling work. We do some lacquer repairs, install new upgraded tuners and then put the guitar back together, re-string it and begin to adjust the action and intonation.

If (and that's a big IF) you watch this video all or most of the way through, then I hope it was informative. Yes, I will do things in ways others will disagree with - so take everything I say with a pinch of salt. The point is if I do something and it works, then it works :-)
