This is the first part of our set up of a Vintage V100 black electric guitar - bought from a nice guy call Yukesh in Wembley Park. He'd had enough of the guitar because it didn't work and he couldn't do anything with so I took it off his hands. The electrics didn't work, it had no strings and there was a hairline crack where the neck joins the body. And there was a load of deep scratching on the front body just behind the tail piece - as if someone had played one gig wearing a full suit of armour. This video shows us assessing the guitar in the Reloved workshop and stripping it down ready to try to put it right. The clip ends with me trying to reattach a loose wire (the jack plug was disconnected) in the hope that it would be a simple fix. No such luck. The wiring was such a mess that I decided the only way I was going to get it to work was to re-wire it from scratch - which is what I did, off camera. I didn't have the ideal wire for the job, so I had to 'double-up' with insulated single core wire. This meant I only just got the bundles of wires through the drilled holes connecting the pickup to the electrics cavity...but I managed. On the second part of this video we will jump straight to doing the full setup on the neck. The bridge on this guitar was replaced with a black one - not in keeping with the rest of the gold hardware. I've got one on it's way to replace that.
