Some residents want barricades to come down on McMicken

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A crackdown on prostitution in one part of the city is not quite having the affect people hoped for.

At least that's what some people living on a street in Over-The-Rhine say.  Barricades were put up two weeks ago along McMicken.  They were meant to push out prostitution.  However, people that live there say slowly but surely the prostitutes and the Johns are coming back and the barricades are hindering their quality of life.

"We feel like we're paying the price for a crime we're not committing. We're trying to live our lives, have a good quality of life and have all the amenities including public transportation we're used to in our lives and right now we're being kept from that.  It's not fair.  We need to make it clear, 'We're here, we live our lives here, we're raising our families here.'  We ain't trickin', open up McMicken," said Vanessa Sparks, a resident on McMicken.

Vanessa is part of a group of residents that want the barricades to come down.  On Friday they are holding a protest called 'We ain't trickin', open up McMicken.'
