Art Griffith succeeded Ed Gallagher as wrestling coach at Oklahoma State (then Oklahoma A&M) in 1941. Griffith's Aggie wrestlers won 8 national championships in 13 attempts and ten undefeated seasons. 17 of Griffith's grapplers won 27 individual national titles. Griffith also coached the 1948 United States Olympic team and developed the points system for wrestling bouts.
