As we continue to celebrate Heritage Day, we focus on one of the important conversations that some South Africans have been engaging in for the past few days on social media, the issue around Homosexuality vs Culture/ Heritage. The #inkonzoyezistabane trended on social media for days, and in some instances it opened up wounds, while in some it brought healing. The LGBTI+ communities, is where many where sharing their stories, the challenges they had to face resulting from all forms of stereotypes and cultural limitations around homosexuality. The question remains as to what role does culture play in making the lives of the LGBTI+ communities even more harder? We speak to Steve Letsike who is the founder of an organisation dealing with cases around homosexuality , Access Chapter 2, together with Motaung Rampai via skype, about a devastating life he had to endure from age 13, as a result of his sexuality.
