Dark Souls III (ダークソウルIII Dāku Sōru Surī?) is an action role-playing video game developed by From Software. It was officially announced on June 15th, 2015 at E3. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 24th, 2016 in Japan, with a worldwide release scheduled for April 12th of the same year.

Set in the Kingdom of Lothric, the player is tasked to survive an oncoming apocalypse brought about by the ongoing conflict between Light and Dark across the series. To survive this event they must face the Lords of Cinder, previous heroes who linked the fire, as the cycle of Light and Dark reaches a breaking point.

Similar to Dark Souls II, fast travel will be available from the outset and players will be able to respec stat points.

New Game+ will feature new weapons, items and reconfigured enemy locations. Durability will be somewhere between the first two games. The same summoning system from the first two games remains for the third installment, as well as illusory walls.[1]

There will be an MP bar, similar to the one found in Demon's Souls, which will govern Battle Arts and Spell uses. The bar can be refilled by resting at a bonfire or by drinking from the Ash Estus Flask.

The Lord of Cinder mode replaces the human form from the previous games. The player becomes kindled by consuming an Ember, which increases their health by 40% and allows them to summon other players to their world. This is similar to the Soul/Body Form system of Demon's Souls.
