My science nerd colors are on full display here. ;-) Details below lyrics. Watch in HD with headphones for the best experience. If you aren't familiar with the term "Pangaea", click this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pangaea ----------------------------- Was it a million years ago? The Earth cooled and so did we On the shore waves roll in slow Where we touched has turned to sea Pangaea The cracks at first, so trivial It's easy to ignore this constant drift How can change, with its slow steady pull All at once, seem so swift Pangaea Seperate you, seperate me Drifted apart ----------------------------------- Driving to work a few months ago and listening to The Weepies' "Antartica", the line "We were Pangaea, now we're drifting apart" popped into my head. I was intrigued because continental drift just seemed like a great metaphor for a fractured relationship, albeit not quite as universal as I might like. Take 'em as they come, though, right? Since The Weepies were the inspiration, I targeted that sound as a tip-of-the-cap in their direction. Since I'd been listening to their music pretty much exclusively the week before, I figured it wouldn't be that hard. Boy was I wrong. ;-) Two unproductive weeks later, I have given up on that goal and moved onto a Dawes style approach modeled after their song "Fire Away". But it was Daughter's song "Medicine" that offered the final moment of clarity and, coincidentally enough, brought me back full circle to the sound I wanted in the first place. Sylvia from channel Imofthewoods was very helpful in the development of this piece listening to several generations and offering advice when needed. As always, Rick from bios36 offered a helping hand, this time by sending over suggestions on drum fills, which I pretty much incorporated 100%. Thanks, guys. http://www.youtube.com/user/ImOfTheWoods http://www.youtube.com/user/bios36 As for the video, I thought I'd try my hand at stop motion since it fits the theme of the song. Probably would have come out better if I had a tripod, but such is life. Hopefully you won't be too bothered by the obvious shift in vantage point. ;-) My daughter was kind enough to kick in here artistic (and gymnastic) skills. She is quite a talent so I'm sure one day you'll be seeing videos of her dancing and playing piano in the near future. Thanks for listening and supporting my music. May the dads among us have their best Fathers Day weekend yet. Justin
