Group of investors under the auspices of Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED) has urged the federal government to address the tariff gap so that Nigerians can receive the improved electricity delivery service that they deserve. 

The group made the appeal  in Abuja while briefing newsmen on the fundamental problems of the tarrif gap. 

The executive Director, research and advocacy of the group,  Sunday Oduntan who spoke for the group said the gap between what the government has specified as the price of electricity that it distribute or retail and the true cost of the product has solely contributed to the excess of N. 1.3 trillion that DisCos are carrying on their financial books impediment to both the sustainability of the electricity market

Oduntan further implored the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing to meet with the association in order  to improve the service delivery to electricity consumers. 

Meanwhile, the Honourable Minister had made reference to the debt owed to the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trader (NBET) by the DisCosrty. It is this tariff gap that is solely responsible for this debt and a debt that continues to grow, unless it is addressed
