Nowadays, the term ‘good luck’ has become a custom in most of our lives. Whenever a person has an event or an exam or anything of that sort, 'good luck' is the common response. However, is saying good luck the correct thing to say? Does saying it constitute as shirk?

'Good luck' is an ambiguous term. It has certain connotations that there is another entity that has control over a situation, when in fact, Allah alone determines fate. Instead of saying 'good luck' it is better to make a du'a that is more specific to the situation.
