Cellulite is a condition in which the skin appears to have areas with fat deposits, giving it a lumpy appearance. Watch out to know its myths and facts.

Video Transcription: Hello Folks,

Today I'm going to have a brief discussion with you about cellulite and its causes.

Cellulite sounds like a medical condition, but cellulite is nothing more than normal fat beneath the skin. It is a condition in which the skin appears to have areas with underlying fat deposits, giving it a dimpled and lumpy appearance. Cellulite is commonly found on the buttocks and thighs.

According to the Dermatologists, 90% of women deal with cellulite at some point in their lives. Also, it is hereditary, so if women in your family have cellulite, there's a good chance you will too.

Now Cellulite is often classified using two grades: Grade 1 and grade 2.

In Grade 1, cellulite sees no clinical symptoms, but a microscopic examination of cells from the area detects underlying anatomical changes.

And in Grade 2, cellulite requires the skin to show pallor (pastiness) and have decreased elasticity, in addition to anatomical changes noted by microscopic examinations.

Though the causes of cellulite are not well understood, but there are factors that influence the appearance of cellulite and how visible it is. Among these are:

Hormonal factors: hormones play an important role in cellulite development. It is believed that estrogen, insulin, thyroid hormones, and prolactin are part of the cellulite production process.

Next one is diet: Diet plays a major role in our lives. People who eat too much fat, carbohydrates, or salt and too little fiber are likely to have greater amounts of cellulite.

The last one we talk of is about, Lifestyle factors - Cellulite may be more prevalent in smokers, those who do not exercise, and those who sit or stand in one position for long periods of time, their skin will appear bumpy.

If you want to get rid of cellulite the best option is exercise, and, if needed, weight loss. Experts agree that the most effective exercise routine for cellulite is one that incorporates aerobic exercise and strength training along with a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and fiber.
