During AFROPUNK14' we were spotted in the distance by a talented young artist by the name of Shanaz Doresett. She would later find and get in contact with us to style her upcoming photoshoot while she visited NYC. We were so enlightened by her talent and personality that we knew the world needed to see the same. Along with Emeli Sandè, Sam Smith, Jessie J and others, electro-soul artist Shanaz is an artist a part of this current “British soul invasion”, and one who deserves to be heard. Take her current single “Four Walls & A Garden”; utilizing a Dr. Dre sample and tongue-in-cheek lyrics, Shanaz captures your ears and eyes with her unique delivery and storytelling.

Dorsett was raised in London to a Turkish mother and Caribbean father, and has also called Houston, Texas home. She writes on heavy issues of woman empowerment and subjects ranging from body image to daddy issues which makes us connect to her even more.
