KDF, KPA officials in bid to manage situation after fuel train derails

Kenya Defence Forces, KDF, and a team of oil contingency plan players from the Kenya Ports Authority, KPA, have been deployed at Kibarani to manage a derailed train carrying petroleum. The train ferrying petrol derailed at Kibarani completely cutting off the Mombasa Island from the mainland. Hundreds of passengers using the Mombasa-Nairobi highway were stranded the whole day after the indefinite closure of a section of the road at the Changamwe-Makupa Causeway. However this afternoon the Kenya Ports Authority, KPA, allowed private vehicles to pass through the port.
