Zac Efron leads a stellar cast in the engrossing, previously untold true story of the Kennedy assassination. On 22 November, 1963, fatally wounded President John F. Kennedy is whisked to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. Two days later, his assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald (Jeremy Strong) is taken to the same hospital, where he too dies. Former journalist Peter Landesman's multi-stranded, verite-style drama explores this astonishing period in American history. It takes the perspectives of ordinary people with key roles in the unfolding events. Dr. Jim Carrico (Zac Efron) is in charge of a team of medics desperately trying to keep the president alive. Abraham Zapruder (Paul Giamatti) is an amateur photographer who inadvertently shoots the most scrutinised 8mm film ever made. Other characters include the head of the Secret Service in Dallas (Billy Bob Thornton) and Oswald's brother (James Badge Dale) and mother (Jacki Weaver). Co-produced by Tom Hanks, this meticulous reconstruction is fascinating and occasionally shocking.
