Tropical Cyclone Outlook for Coral Sea
Issued at 2:30 pm EST on Sunday 16 December 2018
for the period until midnight EST Wednesday 19 December 2018.

Existing Cyclones in the Eastern Region:
Nil.

Potential Cyclones:

At 2pm AEST Sunday, ex-tropical cyclone Owen was located off the northeast tropical coast, about 90km east to northeast of Ayr. It is forecast to move southeastwards through the remainder of today and will likely lie off the Central Coast by early Monday morning.

Atmospheric conditions are expected to become less favourable for development on Monday and Tuesday. Although a low level circulation will remain visible off the Queensland coast, an intrusion of dry mid to upper level air will restrict any development, particularly on Tuesday. As a result, there is a low to very low likelihood of this system redeveloping into a tropical cyclone.

Likelihood of a tropical cyclone in the Eastern Region (Coral Sea) on:
Monday:Low
Tuesday:Very Low
Wednesday:Very Low
