A CEO of a government-linked company (GLC) has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to assist investigation into alleged misappropriation of a tender worth about RM300 million. The 59-year-old suspect was nabbed in Kuala Lumpur around noon today and is believed to have taken advantage of several tenders for construction projects in Putrajaya. It was alleged the suspect had abused his power to manipulate the awarding of tender process of the construction projects currently underway. After awarding a construction company the project, several purportedly intentional issues were manipulated to purposely cause the failed execution of the project. Initial investigation found that the situation may have been planned from the start as the replacement contractor was believed to have an interest. MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations), Datuk Seri Azam Baki confirmed the arrest and added that MACC conducted raids at three locations within the Klang Valley to obtain documents pertaining to the case.
