Recently I briefly misplaced my centre. I remembered my mother, who was my principal guide in sustaining my balance when I was growing up in a South African township. Through her I learnt the healing benefits of the natural environment. So this morning as part of my meditation I recalled some of the sounds of the sacred forests I ventured into as a boy, which spoke to me in the transposed voices of my ancestral spirits. All the sounds on this recording were produced using only my body. I recorded straight onto GarageBand using the built-in microphone of my laptop, without monitoring recording levels -- hence the distortion in places. I could feel myself become immediately retuned as I expressed these enchanting sounds of my childhood refuge.
