I sent my buddy Rick from channel bios36 a demo of this song and he offered to help me put together a more complete mix. I have to admit that I am very pleased with how it came out. Rick plays all the instruments and does quite a bit of the backing vocals. He also used his magic hand at mixing everything as well. When you add in that his wife, Alice, made the video, I definitely got away with the easy job!

Please check out Rick and Alice's channel, in addition to being a remarkable contributor to others' art, he is a superb composer as well.

If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to share a private link to the original demo. Comparing the two makes Rick's influence all the more remarkable.

The lyrics to "Past the Memory" tell a story of nostalgia and, while there is a bit of creative license, are largely autobiographical.

Thanks for your support and for listening/commenting/rating. If you are feeling generous, I'd greatly appreciate sharing this vid because I feel it is one of our best and most relatable pieces.

Lyrics
----------------------------------------------------------------

There's a river back home
Where we used to go
Summer days you couldn't keep us kids away
Now indoors they roam

The old dirt path
Petrified bike tracks
No one seems to ride there anymore
Guess they have other plans

Oh, I want to go
Where the days move slow
And the dark won't follow you at night
Past the memory on the right

In the woods we lay
And kissed away the day
Seems there's no time anymore
To lay away the day

Now I struggle in vain
To recall the names
Of neighbors I never see
What a shame

Oh, I want to go
Where the days move slow
And the dark won't follow you at night
Past the memory on the right

Where the waters flow
And the green grass grows
Where children still step outside
Past the memory on, the memory on the right

There's a river back home.
