Ensign Wally Krauss was the director of a successful choir made up of sailors and officers while the fleet was at anchor at Shanghai, China, in December 1945. He tells of his meeting with the famous Army Four-Star Gen. Joseph Stilwell, at an officers' party on shore at the customs mansion on December 31, 1945. Wally was an Ensign aboard the cruiser U.S.S. St. Paul.
Then he describes for us his mens chorus from St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Barrington, Illinois. They were lauded at the funeral of one of their members, Bob Meyer, who had died in an auto accident (c.1963).
