Less than five minutes away from Chiang Mai International Airport is a large, five story shopping mall with a Robinson's Mall and Cineplex! Who knew this until guide "O" mentioned it on the ride to the airport while finishing up the Mae Hong Son Loop? Since there was plenty of time until flight check-in with Thai Airlines, we asked him to drop us there for 1-1/2 hours just in case there was a "moment of madness" sale or last minute item that we simple could not leave without.

A free shuttle bus takes passengers back and forth at scheduled times or just walk over. It would take more hours than we had to really browse all floors filled with: Thai goods, souvenirs, clothes, jewelry, organic body lotions (Frangipani and Mimosa smelled divine), contemporary furnishings, electronics, and don't miss the basement food mall! If not hungry before riding an escalator down to the food level, you will be once there! And even more food can be found on the main level between Robinson's and Central Plaza, e.g. McDonald's and KFC.
