After a LOT of research I decided to get a Canon Vixia HF M31 (also the one I found on Ebay for the right price- was looking at the Vixia 200 and 21) for my HD movies, previously I was using a Canon S5 IS still frame camera for my video. The S5 IS does great video for what it is and the price range but I needed something with more HDness and better macro. This camera can record at a resolution of 2304 X 1296 which is the resolution I recorded these movies in. So far I love this camera, the only thing I will have to figure out what to do with is the large file size. This movie is about 6 minutes long or so but is just over a gig in size... I need more hard drive space. Working with the files takes a while too because of the sheer file size. So far I have stuck with Windows Live Movie Maker for editing and encoding my YouTube videos for the ease of use and FREE goodness. This movie only took about 15-20 minutes to encode on my core 2 duo which is not bad by any body's standards. More electronics blog posts here: http://www.electronhacks.com
