I built this 6 channel temperature scanner for around 40 bucks, compare that to hundreds of dollars per channel for a commercial scanner. The target application was to get an idea of the temperatures under the hood of my LB7 Duramax diesel, on hot days pulling heavy trailers the truck can overheat so this tool helped me out. The scanner is built using a Nokia 3310 LCD screen and a Arduino Pro Mini 3 volt version. The temperature probes are simple thermistors that I ordered from Digi-Key for around 50 cents each. More info and the code can be found on my blog post here: http://www.electronhacks.com/2012/01/arduino-6-ai-temperature-scanner-with-lcd-display/
